Starting therapy at Apricity Horizons Counseling means stepping into a space that is warm, welcoming, and free of judgment. At Apricity Horizons Counseling, we understand that life can be unpredictable—illness, emergencies, and unexpected circumstances happen. However, to honor both your time and ours, we kindly ask that you provide at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling.
Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice may be subject to a cancellation fee. We’re happy to go over the full policy, answer any questions, and discuss any concerns during your first session.
Each session is 53+ minutes. This allows for a full, unrushed therapy session and also provides the necessary time to complete clinical notes in between sessions. Insurance companies require sessions to be at least 53 minutes for reimbursement, so this ensures your sessions are covered if you’re using out-of-network benefits.
There’s no perfect way to prepare for therapy—just showing up is a powerful first step. Whether you come with specific goals, a jumble of thoughts, or simply the desire to feel better, you’re welcome just as you are. You don’t need to have everything figured out. Bring your questions, your curiosity, and your honest self.
And remember: the act of reaching out for help is something to celebrate. It takes courage to prioritize your mental health, and that alone is a meaningful step toward healing.
At Apricity Horizons Counseling, we offer free 15-minute consultations because finding the right therapist is an important first step. This initial conversation gives you a chance to ask questions, share what you’re looking for, and get a feel for how we might work together. Therapy is a deeply personal journey, and it’s essential that you feel comfortable and supported. The consultation helps us both determine if we’re a good fit so you can begin your healing with confidence.
Feeling safe, heard, and understood is essential in therapy. If you feel comfortable and able to share openly, that’s a strong sign we’re a good fit. It’s normal to need a few sessions to get comfortable, and we can always check in and adjust our work together as needed.
